Peter Leeson

Peter Leeson is the Q:PIT Ltd director. He is a visiting scientist with the SEI and a member of the British Computer Society.

With some thirty years experience in the software development industry and over ten years in process improvement, Peter has extended the Q:PIT Ltd product base with many qualities and experience. is an authorized lead appraiser for the Software Engineering Institute's CMMI Standard Capability Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI). He is also trained in other models and approaches, such as ISO/IEC 15504 (SPICe) and Bootstrap.

Peter is an authorized trainer for the official "Introduction to CMMI" and a SCAMPI Lead Appraiser; he is authorized for both CMMI-DEV (for development) and CMMI-ACQ (CMMI for acquisition).

Peter is also an experienced trainer and public speaker who has frequently been recognised for outstanding contributions. He has developed numerous workshops and presentations.

Peter has professional experience throughout Europe and the Far East. He has been lived in Belgium, France, the United States and Great Britain and speaks several languages. Peter has a truly international approach and believes that the culture of the country and the organization and primordial in any successful improvement effort. With this significant experience throughout Europe and China in process improvement and quality management, Peter is used to working with degree of independence in determining the most appropriate approach, working with management and staff as advisor, team leader or project manager, he uses tools such as audits, inspections, reviews and assessments as well as training and coaching in management techniques and technical activities.

The idea behind Peter's "Focus on Quality" means that the quality can be planned and engineered into the product or service rather than discovered through testing, customer support or client management.

As a CMMI authorised lead appraiser, a CMMI trainer, an SEI visiting scientist, Peter seeks to complement this approach with products such as Prince2, CMMI and ISO standards (9000-2000, 15504) as well as approaches such as Six- Sigma, NLP or mind maps, to facilitate the design and architecture of products, services and projects to fit the needs of demanding customers.

He supports the quality approach with targeted audits within a defined framework. to arrive at project assurance and communication to management so as to allow a clear understanding of the current issues and capabilities on a regular basis through tailored reports and metrics.

He encourages a proactive approach to understanding needs, managing projects in an evolutionary manner as well as risk management and continuous improvement.

He has had successful experiences working with major multinational companies as well as local projects in many sectors, such as telecom, financial (insurance and banking), IT, consulting, medical, automotive, electronics industries and others.

Through continued improvement by ongoing coaching and mentoring and change management, he supports ongoing two-way communication activities with the management teams, the quality teams and the project practitioners.

Through a positive "can-do" attitude, seeking original approaches to issues, thinking "out-of-the-box" combined with a visionary and perfectionist attitude that tries to bring the details in line with the big picture.
